A history of endorsing quality measures drives a future of aligned and truly effective measures.
For over 14 years, NQF was the consensus-based entity for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that endorsed and maintained quality performance measures. This experience led us to the understanding that the most important work happens through stakeholder engagement and measure innovation before endorsement, and during implementation after it.
Today, NQF is dedicated to forging multi-stakeholder consensus on measurement standards and practices that improve outcomes, affordability, and equity. Our members address the most important structural issues upstream and downstream of our nation’s portfolio of measures, advancing the next generation of measures and practices and scaling their implementation to achieve impact.
Our present and past projects reflect our belief that measures alone are insufficient to create the care we need. Quality improvements happen when diverse stakeholders come together, have an equal voice, build holistic solutions, and commit to implementing them.
