NQF’s 2016 Annual Conference April 7-8 Highlights How Data and Data Analytics Are Changing Healthcare

—More than 400 national leaders in quality will convene at the National Quality Forum’s (NQF) 2016 Annual Conference next month to address how data and data analytics are changing the nation’s health and healthcare delivery. The event, “Re-engineering Quality Data for Value,” will take place on April 7-8, at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.

Featured speakers include:

  • Karen DeSalvo, MD, Acting Assistant Secretary for Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology 
  • Kate Goodrich, MD, Director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
  • Marilyn Tavenner, President and CEO, America’s Health Insurance Plans
  • Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA)
  • David Bailey, MD, President and CEO, Nemours Foundation
  • Billy Bean, Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations, Oakland Athletics

The Annual Conference kicks off with a breakfast meeting focused on NQF’s Measure Incubator, an innovative effort that is facilitating the development of healthcare measures in important areas where quality measures are underdeveloped or do not yet exist.

Panels include a discussion on health data for patient engagement, moderated by POLITICO Pro’s healthcare editor, Joanne Kenen, with Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer, Healthgrades; Kevin Larsen, MD, Medical Director of Medical Use, ONC; and Deborah Peel, MD, founder of Patient Privacy Rights.

In addition, NQF will recognize winners of two awards. The 2015 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award winners will be honored during a luncheon on April 7, and the winner of NQF’s Consumers and Patients for Quality Award will be honored during the morning session on April 8.
