Background:
The opioid epidemic in America is an urgent public health crisis with devastating
consequences. NQF’s National Quality Partners™ (NQP™) convened dozens of
experts and national stakeholders from the public and private sectors—including
patient partners, clinicians, healthcare organizations, pharmacists, pain
management experts, community-based organizations and federal agencies—to address
this crisis. Their input helped shape practical guidance for healthcare
organizations and communities to improve opioid stewardship, so that patients
can be assured safe and effective pain management that reduces their risks of
overdose and addiction.
